Saint Joseph Chapel

In 1950, the twenty-one members of the Rimburg Veterans Association decided to found a chapel in Rimburgerbos. They did this out of gratitude for their safe return home after the May Days of 1940. The chapel, dedicated to Saint Joseph, was consecrated by Dean De Hesselle on Whit Sunday in 1951.

Since then, a candle-lit procession has passed by the chapel every year on 19 March, on St Joep's Day. A solemn ceremony is also held here every year on National Remembrance Day on 4 May.

There has been a commemorative column next to the chapel since 1999, with the names of war victims from the former municipality of Ubach over Worms. A 'Purple Heart' plaque, placed next to the entrance in 2007, commemorates the American soldiers who fell in the autumn of 1944 during the liberation and the attack on the Westwall.
